Introducing: Memorable Milestones with StubHub
For those of you who haven’t checked it out, last week StubHub’s Facebook page launched its timeline layout. Our team had a lot of fun reminiscing about StubHub’s history over the last decade, but we realized that there is something really important missing from the timeline: the memorable moments our fans experienced. So, we want all you to take part in our Time of your LIVE project and share a...
A Blue-Blooded Championship
After three weeks of March Madness, the year of college basketball comes to a close tonight with a clash of two historic programs. The Kansas Jayhawks will square off against the Kentucky Wildcats, the prohibitive favorite, who have been steamrolling through the bracket up to this point. It’s been a crazy weekend down here in New Orleans and let me tell you, I’ve seen more Kentucky fans than I can...

Final Four Ticket Data Extravaganza
The undercard to that Big Ten- Big 12 showdown certainly merits marquee billing. It’s a heated Bluegrass State rivalry between two teams that hate each other: Kentucky and Louisville. The data shows that a majority of our buyers are from Kentucky and by a large margin. Roughly 40% of all tickets bought on StubHub for the Final Four are from Kentucky! This is compared to only 4% from Ohio and less...

Final Four from a Kansas Insider’s Perspective
Can you believe we’re already at the Final Four?! It feels like March Madness is flying by this year. (Though, doesn’t it every year – especially once your bracket is busted?) To get us all pumped up for tip-off this weekend, I sat down with Jason Booker, general manager of Jayhawk IMG Sports Marketing, to get a little insider’s perspective on what the scene is like for a Kansas fan.
JF: First...
piwacketnyc asked: Hi Jo, I am big theater fan in NYC. Are there easy ways that you can suggest for me to get alerts on cheap last minute tickets other fans are trying to dump? Any other avenues to find info on how Broadway events are doing so I can stay close and score some seats? Thanks, Pi

Ultra Music Festival in Miami This Weekend –...
Spring is here, and with it comes the unofficial kick off of music festival season. Last week, thousands of music fans traveled to Austin for SXSW 2012 Music Week to see more than 2,000 artists perform all over the city. The streets are shut down, and every bar, hotel and street corner is filled with musicians and fans discovering new acts and checking out some of their favorite bands for...

Jo's Guide to Picking Your Bracket - Part 3: MOST...
In the last two installments, I shared some insights about how StubHub ticket demand and driving distance to the tournament games could be used to find a unique Final Four grouping, but today I’m going to analyze the brackets in much more straightforward manner. These lists are the most popular teams of the 2011-2012 college basketball year both at home and on the road, based on total tickets...
Jo's Guide to Picking Your Bracket - Part 2:...
I’m back again with a second theory to picking your Final Four. This metric bases each school’s proximity to the Final Four venue. Using the same methodology this morning’s blog post, we checked the driving distances from the 2011 Final Four teams and looked to see if we could find any schools that compare. Of all the schools that match the distances from last season, Iowa State is almost exactly...

Jo’s Guide to Picking Your Bracket - Part 1
March Madness is here at last! The brackets were unveiled yesterday and as soon as the match-ups were announced, fans across America began scrambling to fill out their brackets. Fortunately for those of you who aren’t quite sure how to make your 2012 picks, I’m here to provide tips to help you gain an edge in your office pool.
Let’s face it, picking the Final Four is pretty random. Last year, out...

Just Like We Predicted
So the Big East Championship tonight comes down to the two teams we expected all along, Syracuse vs. Notre Dame. Wait, what was that?
Let me start over. So the Big East Championship tonight come down to the two teams we weren’t expecting all along, Cincinnati vs. Louisville. The Bearcats did the impossible and upset Syracuse, while Louisville routed the Irish to earn their spot in the Finals....

Heartbreak Hotel
I promise that future blog posts will have more upbeat stories from March Madness but so far the early rounds of the conference tournaments have been filled with nothing but upsets. Nothing hit harder yesterday than Northwestern’s overtime loss to Minnesota. The Wildcats have never made the tournament in the 111-year history of their basketball program and with this early round loss, it’s...

Not This Year...
Another exciting year of Big East Tournament basketball is underway and it looks like the #9-seeded Connecticut Huskies will not be making a second improbable run to the Big East Tournament Championship. Wednesday, UCONN staved off a worthy opponent, the West Virginia Mountaineers, in overtime 71-67 but fell yesterday morning to the #1-seeded Syracuse Orangemen. It was a close game but the...

The Wait is Over!
You would think with 68 teams making the NCAA Basketball Tournament each season, no one would have to wait 66 years between trips to the Big Dance. But lo and behold, Harvard basketball found itself mired in a serious drought. But with UPenn’s loss on Tuesday to Princeton, the Harvard Crimson won their first Ivy League title since 1946! I remember the despair last year when Harvard lost a...

Get the Most out of Your Music Fest Experience:...
I’m back with Part II of my Q&A with Michael Pingel. Today we’ve got some great suggestions for those of you who are heading out to camping festivals this year. We know you’re already brave enough to sleep in the elements for a few days, but why risk forgetting anything when these tips could make your weekend great!

Get the Most out of Your Music Fest Experience:...
I hope you enjoyed last week’s Q&A with music festival newbie JR. This week I’m back with more tips – but this time from festival veteran (and fellow Stubber) Michael Pingel. He’s got so much great info to share that I’ve broken this up into two posts: today’s will include tips for non-camping festivals like Lollapalooza and Outside Lands, and tomorrow’s will include tips for camping festivals...
