As Coachella kicks off tomorrow and thousands travel to LA to see their favorite bands, Bay Area residents have the option to skip the heat and crowds to see artists in their own back yard, for less, during what many are calling “Fauxchella.”
Since there are four days between Coachella weekends and Coachella artists aren’t permitted to play in the LA-area during the break, many of the most popular artists are heading to San Francisco to the delight of SF locals. From recent GRAMMY winner Bon Iver to French electro duo Justice, there’s something for nearly every music fan in the Bay Area over the next couple weeks. Since we’re based in the SF, we’ve been keeping a particularly close eye to all of the Fauxchella festivities, and wanted to share the average prices Northern Californians can still find tickets for:
- Bon Iver at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, April 19 – Average ticket price: $58, 230+ tickets still available
- Gotye at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, April 18 – Average ticket price: $84, 225+ tickets still available
- Justice at Fox Theatre, April 17 – Average ticket price: $66, 215+ tickets still available
- Explosions in the Sky at Palace of Fine Arts, April 16 – Average ticket price: $89
With prices for Coachella starting at $445, music fans in the Bay who can’t make it Coachella can ease their pain with opportunities to see great performances without leaving home.
What’s more, sports fans in the Bay have the option to see some great games for less over the next couple weeks. Baseball, hockey and basketball fans all have great options next week — the Phillies play at the Giants on Monday, April 16, and there’s tons to choose from. Hockey fans can see the NHL Western Conference Quarterfinals between with St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks on Monday for as low at $82, and the Lakers play the Golden State Warriors at the Oracle Arena on Wednesday and you can get in for as low as $40. Keep in mind that the StubHub marketplace is ALWAYS changing and you might score a deal at the last minute — keep checking the site or our mobile apps!
With something for everyone, it’s a great time to be in the Bay Area (if only the rain would stop)…
