Who’s a fan of what this week? We’ve trolled through our ticket data (and just a quick reminder: our data is based on tickets ACTUALLY PURCHASED because it’s the best gauge of fan demand, not asking/listing prices) and have uncovered some interesting story lines. Here’s a look at the week ahead:
Hockey Heatin’ Up
Tonight two series’ are on the line and both the Rangers and the Blackhawks are faced with “win-or-go-home”. We looked into the breakdown of top buyer representations for each, to see how much support we can expect from fans.
The Blackhawks host Game 6 and in-theory have more than an 80:1 edge over the Coyotes. Here’s how fans are being represented in relation to ducats: Illinois 84%, Indiana 4%, Arizona/California/Wisconsin each 1%
The Rangers are up north tonight and need to win on the road, but they have less than 10% coming from New York or New Jersey. Granted, there’s sure to be transplanted Rangers fans in Ottawa, but based on our ticket data, here’s how it shakes out: Ontario 76% (Ottawa, Nepean and Kanata top the list), Quebec 9%, New York 6%
Tomorrow we’ll dive into the only Game 7 that we have slated so far: Capitals at Bruins on Wednesday
Looking ahead to the Semifinals, we looked into stats for the four teams awaiting their opponent. Here’s how they rank, based on ticket sales over the last few days:
1. Flyers
2. Kings
3. Blues
4. Predators
NBA Steals
For those of you that have been keeping a close watch know that cheap tickets have been easy to come by all season for a handful of teams — the Nets of course have had dozens of tickets for 1 penny all season.
Speaking of a penny, tonight fans can catch the Cavs at the Grizzlies for a penny. If you feel like going all out, courtside seats start at $99 and may come down even further.
A few more games today to call out in the dollar range — Pistons at Pacers, Bobcats at Wizards, Blazers at Spurs
On a Country Kick
Changing directions and on the heels of the Country Music Awards announcing nominees this morning, we decided to look into our top-selling country tours so far this year to see if there were any similarities. Certainly some things line-up based on our top five country tours (and their top shows) below:
1. Jason Aldean (top show: 2/24 in Nashville with Luke Bryan)
2. Kenny Chesney (6/16 in Philly with Tim McGraw)
3. Lady Antebellum (2/18 in Dallas with Darius Rucker)
4. Jimmy Buffett (3/30 in Tampa)
5. George Strait (2/24 in Vegas with Martina McBride)
