  1. Heat Fans Set Their Eyes (and Wallets) on Game 5

Now that Game 3 is in the books, we’ve begun to see on StubHub that fans are now starting to look ahead to Game 5 in Miami. In fact, fans have purchased more tickets today to Game 5, than any of the other thirty-thousand events on StubHub. Additionally, over 10% of today’s sales can be attributed to the combination of sales for Game 4 and 5. Come Thursday, we’ll face one of two possible scenarios:

    • 1 - The Thunder will take Game 4, tie up the series, and regain home-court advantage
    • 2 - Miami will be in a position to potentially win the Championship on their home turf

Currently, fans are paying an average price of $640 to Game 5, with $265 as the low end and $4700 (Dewars Club) on the high end. Considering these two possibilities, let’s break down the numbers, StubHub style.

    • 1 - Should the Thunder win tomorrow, the demand will lessen for Game 5, so prices will follow suit. We may then start to see some Heat fans looking to invade Oklahoma City for Game 6.
    • 2 - If the Heat can replicate the last two games, the excitement and demand will heighten, likely raising prices higher. Games of this magnitude tend to also attract some high-rollers, looking for the premium seats. We already saw two courtside seats purchased for last night’s game at $15k a piece… any predictions for Game 5?

    First Things First

Tomorrow, of course, will tell all. Fans looking to catch the action tomorrow night at the American Airlines Arena have nearly 2500 tickets to choose from. Based on buying activity thus far, we’re seeing that the average price per ticket purchased has been $552, with a range of $148 to $4700.

Here’s a shocker from last night’s game: One lucky fan found tickets for $24, by waiting until the last minute. I can’t predict what tomorrow’s market will look like, but if you’re a gambling (wo)man (like myself), you may find some value by waiting out until the last few hours to tip-off.  Bear in mind that the waiting game can be risky, especially if you are looking for more than two tickets. But it’s worth a shot for a casual fan that would be equally happy watching the game at a bar if it doesn’t pan out. Don’t forget to download our mobile app (iPhone, Android, Windows) and good luck!
