  1. StubHub Announces Renewal of MLB Partnership

Today’s guest blogger is Shannon Barbara, who is filling in for Jo while she’s out

You may have heard this already, but I have exciting news to report: we have renewed our agreement with Major League Baseball for five more years! This means that we will continue to be the Official Fan to Fan Ticket Marketplace for all MLB and the best place to shop when looking for baseball tickets through 2017.

    image

We first partnered with MLB back in 2007, and at the time it was the first league-wide agreement we’d entered into. We’ve learned a lot over the last five years of the partnership, and we look forward to seeing where the next five years take us. But, most importantly, we are excited to continue providing a safe, reliable, convenient ticket marketplace for fans, and to introducing other innovative technology that will make their experience even better.

I personally can’t wait for the new season to start! Jo will hate me for this, but go Giants!

For more information on our announcement, you can read the full press release here.

  2. ‘Tis the season for Holiday Classics on StubHub

The holiday season is in full swing, and here at StubHub, we know what that means: it’s time to start thinking about gift ideas and where you could take your family and friends that are visiting from out of town.

If the above description fits you – you’re in luck because we have great ideas that won’t break the bank. For example, if you’re in New York City, Nashville, Texas or Illinois, grab tickets to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. We’re seeing tickets go for as little as $16, so you might want to jump on this deal fast!

The Nokia Theater in Los Angeles is once again home to KIIS FM’s annual Jingle Ball 2012. For the first time, there are two nights, two shows and two different lineups. Tickets for this holiday concert extravaganza are starting at $67 on StubHub. Additionally, Donny and Marie Osmond are bringing their “Christmas in Los Angeles” show to the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. If you and your family are in the LA-area in December, consider picking up tickets to this show, as tickets are starting at $42, depending on which day you choose.

For more great deals on holiday classics, be sure to check out StubHub. Happy holidays, everyone!

  3. StubHub Donating All Profits from Secondary Ticket Sales for “12.12.12” The Concert for Sandy Relief

Today’s guest blog comes courtesy of Shannon J. Barbara, public relations coordinator, while Joellen is out.

Come Monday morning, one of the hottest tickets in New York City will be to attend “12.12.12” The Concert for Sandy Relief. With all profits from each ticket going to the Robin Hood Foundation to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy, on Dec. 12 Madison Square Garden will be packed with big-hearted, charitable fans.  Given the important cause and amazing lineup, featuring Bon Jovi, Dave Grohl, Eddie Vedder, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Paul McCartney, Kanye West, Roger Waters, Alicia Keys, The Who and Billy Joel, it’ll probably sell out in minutes.

As a secondary ticket site, we at StubHub will inevitably see tickets posted on our site shortly after Monday’s on-sale. However, rather than remove these listings, we see this as an opportunity to make sure that profits from these tickets go where they were initially intended: to the Sandy relief effort. That’s why we’ll be donating 100% of all profits from the ticket sales to the Robin Hood Foundation.

We’re also making it easy for sellers to donate funds from tickets sold to one of several nonprofit organizations leading Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, including the Robin Hood Relief Fund as well as the American Red Cross, Save the Children, the Humane Society of the United States and the Salvation Army.

If you won’t be in New York City, or are unable to attend the concert, you can still help those in the tri-state area. Donations can be made to the Robin Hood Relief Fund by visiting www.robinhood.org/rhsandy

  4. The Search Continues for Ultimate Fans…

Today’s guest blogger is Jackie Tincher from the StubHub Social Team.  Any questions? jtincher@stubhub.com

A few months ago, we introduced you to our Ultimate Fan Contest on our Facebook Page. It’s our first User Generated Contest to celebrate fans just for being FANS, in unique and fun ways! This month we are looking for the Ultimate Fan Look-AlikeSome of the submissions we’ve received so far are very rad and spot on!

Among some of the entries so far include a Forrest Gump (aka Tom Hanks) a Ke$ha, the Most Interesting Man in the World, a Gene Simmons, a Marilyn and a Buddy the Elf.

As you can see people are into it and it’s a ton of fun. Some of the past winners include the Ultimate Festival Fan, Jeff Hodak who won by seeing 87 performances in 5 days.

Ultimate Fan Pet, Yogi Berra won in part because of a cross country road trip, when he traveled from Brooklyn to Oakland to watch his beloved Yankees.  He’s also got a custom #8 jersey and a twitter handle @YankeePup

Our most recent winner was Johnny Volk whose Ultimate Fan Date was a road trip from San Diego to Candlestick where his beloved Bolts were routed by the 49ers, 35-3.  The loss didn’t diminish the date or his love of his Chargers.

To check out more entries and winners, visit the Ultimate Fan Page on our Facebook page. http://on.fb.me/S3gHo4  It’s fun in there and encourage your family, friends and & Facebook homies to enter! They could win $500 StubHub Gift Code!

  5. StubHub: First Entertainment Ticketing Company to Offer Mobile Venue Seat Maps

It’s an exciting time here at StubHub, as we’re continuing our mobile innovation to improve your overall fan experience. In fact, on Monday we became the first entertainment ticketing company to offer interactive venue seat maps on mobile devices.

This means that you can now browse for tickets by section, see the range of ticket prices in that section, and view photos of sight lines – all from your mobile device while you’re on the go. I know I’m always on the go, traveling from one event to the next, so being able to get a complete ticketing experience from my phone is huge for me, especially when tickets go on sale while I’m in line for a flight or at a sports conference.

We’re also happy to announce that seat maps are immediately available for all 32 NFL teams. Here are some screenshots of the seat maps:

Aside from seat maps, most of you know that StubHub is fully integrated with Apple’s Passbook, which gives iPhone and iPod users another option to access mobile tickets.

Over the weekend, Purdue University became the first school to introduce this new technology for their game against the Wisconsin Badgers, and additional schools are expected in the coming months, so stay tuned to see if your favorite team will be one of them!

  7. StubHub gets fans ‘buzz’ing at USC

Our first official college football tailgate of the year – at USC’s Coliseum – was the coolest place in LA on Saturday (well, the 100-degree weather aside).  The Bolt Barbers came down with their mobile barbershop trailer decked out in StubHub decals and got tailgating fans in the spirit with crazy hair designs. More than 50 super fans lined up for tapered haircuts, Mohawks and USC-inspired designs. USC definitely has some dedicated fans!

Check out some photos of the decked out StubHub-themed mobile barbershop trailer, as well as fans getting the USC logo shaved into their hair:

We also had hundreds of fans stop by to sign up for StubHub Fan Rewards, while others lined up to get airbrush tattoos of the USC logo and pose in front of our photo booth with football props. All in all, we had a great day, and can’t wait for our next tailgate in Alabama on Nov. 10 where we’ll be offering another fun StubHub experience designed especially for ‘Bama fans!

  8. Think you’re the biggest USC Trojan Fan? Prove it!

On Saturday, the StubHub team will be at The Coliseum in LA for our first official tailgate of the college football season, as the Trojans take on the Bears! We’re inviting all fans to stop by – it’s FREE – to show off their team spirit all over their face (or head…).

We’re teaming up with Bolt Barbers, a local old-school barbershop known for their wild styles, to bring their mobile barbershop trailer down for the day to shave USC-inspired designs onto fans’ heads for FREE (noticing a theme here?). The barbers are masters of tapered haircuts, fades, mohawks and more, and are definitely the ultimate way to show your devotion to the Trojans. If you’re like me and not quite brave enough to change your hairstyle for a team, don’t worry - we’ll have face painters there to paint on temporary logos/team colors.

Once you’re all decked out with your new Trojan look, we’ll have a photo area and football gear/props to help you capture the moment (new profile pic!). We’ll also have cool prizes for anyone who signs up onsite for StubHub Fan Rewardsour new rewards program.

If you’re heading to the USC game on Saturday, or just out and about in the LA area, be sure to find us in the Fan Fest tailgate area for your Trojan makeover. And, in case I didn’t mention already, it’s FREE!

  9. Valentine’s Day: For All You Procrastinators

I’m sure many of you are thinking, “Oh no, tomorrow is Valentine’s Day and I have yet to plan the perfect evening for my Valentine!” No need to break a sweat quite yet. StubHub still has many last-minute tickets that are sure to impress your guy or gal so they never have to know that you almost forgot about the holiday. Below I’m highlighting just a few of the great options we still have available for events across the country.

Ladies, your man is sure to love you forever if you take him to see the NBA’s hottest sensation, the New York Knicks’ Jeremy Lin. Lin is attempting to continue his remarkable playing streak as they take on the Toronto Raptors in Toronto. Be a part of the Linsanity without breaking the bank with tickets starting at $52. You don’t have to take your man to Canada either; there are great deals to be had stateside as well. Tickets to the Bulls vs. Kings game in Chicago are another affordable gift option. What better reason to brave the chilly Chicago weather than a trip to see this fun match-up.

Is your man a hockey fan? Then how about tickets to see the Tampa Bay Lightning take on the Ottawa Senators in Tampa? Be there to find out if the Lightning can fight their way back into the playoffs. And if you aren’t into hockey, don’t worry, I love the stadium’s new lightning bolt contraptions that fire up as the team takes the ice.

Now guys, don’t expect her to do all the work. Get your country on with Martina McBride for as little as $54 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. And if theater is your lady’s thing, then I would recommend taking her to see the buzz-worthy Broadway hit, which stars my favorite little Harry Potter, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying playing at the Hirschfield Theater in New York CityDon’t be scared, the Chicago Tribune calls this smash, “great fun for everyone.”

So, don’t fret over last-minute Valentine’s Day plans. StubHub will make it quick and simple, and we’ll even let you take all the credit. Drop me a line if you use StubHub to set-up your perfect date!
